The DX1 is a lot more fun than you might think.
FM is one of the most painful but at the same times rewarding synthesis methods to program and the DX1's front panel makes it a joy.
After a few months with mine I've created timbres that I'd hever have even attempted in the four years I owned a TX81Z. Great keyboard feel, too.
